OSS - ICARDA | New prospects for collaboration in the field of pastoralism and climate change

The Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS) and the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas - ICARDA: new prospects for collaboration in the field of pastoralism and climate change.

The OSS, represented by its Executive Secretary and his team of Coordinators sat with an ICARDA delegation, on November 23, 2022, during a working session that made it possible for the two parties to discuss the creation and implementation of a regional knowledge network on pastoral systems and climate change for the benefit of local communities and stakeholders in North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Discussions went over the potential projects that the two institutions intend to implement on topics of common interest.

The adoption of an innovative approach for knowledge sharing and its alignment with the guidelines of the two institutions were also highlighted.

Besides, both parties stressed the need to confirm and strengthen the role of knowledge management in order to create a network that will enable both institutions to take full advantage of their partnership.

The OSS and ICARDA agreed on holding other working sessions with a view to strengthening the sharing of know-how and experience between the two institutions.
