The Sahara and Sahel Observatory is taking part, on October 9-10, 2024, in the GMES national workshop in Libya: from Earth Observation to decision-making, organized by the Libyan Center for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences - LCRSSS - in Tripoli, Libya.
This workshop will bring together end users of the GMES&Africa services and various stakeholders in Libya, and will aim to introduce the products and tools developed to support decision-making in the country, highlight the main achievements of the project at the regional level, update end users' needs and improve the visibility of the project interventions at the national level.
Participants and end users will share their feedback on the implementation approaches, indicators and platforms developed and explore synergies with other projects, programs and initiatives related to the project themes.
For the record, the GMES&Africa project aims to promote the improvement of local institutional, human and technical capacities for operational access and optimized use of Earth Observation based services. It was developed to address the African needs for services related to water, natural resources, marine and coastal areas, meet the global needs for environmental management and promote the implementation of the African space policies and strategies.
A field visit will take place, on October 11, 2024 to agricultural plots in Tripoli. The SAQIYA regional application adapted to the Libyan context will then be put into action, tested and officially launched in Libya.
