The Executive Board of the Sahara and Sahel Observatory, under the Chairmanship of M Abdeladim LHAFI, has just appointed Mr. Nabil BEN KHATRA, of Tunisian nationality, as the new Executive Secretary.
Mr. BEN KHATRA, agricultural engineer and Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems Expert, began his professional career in 1995 at the Tunisian National Remote Sensing Centre before joining the Ministry of the Environment in 2000 (Tunisia).
Mr. BEN KHATRA joined the Sahara and Sahel Observatory in 2003 and started as a Sustainable Natural Resources Management Expert and a Monitoring-Evaluation Manager, then, he took up the Environment Program Coordinator position since 2008.
Mr. BEN KHATRA 26 year-long professional experience covers the areas of sustainable natural resources management, the development of environmental observation and monitoring tools as well as the development of climate change mitigation and adaptation programs.
Mr. BEN KHATRA worked in particular on the development of strategic partnerships and the mobilization of resources, in response to different environmental issues and challenges in Africa, with a view to contributing to the achievement of the Objectives of national and international development agendas.
Mr. Nabil BEN KHATRA, who will be officially introduced during the OSS General Assembly scheduled, online, from Tunis on November 25-26, will replace Mr. Khatim KHERRAZ, of Algerian nationality, who was the OSS Executive Secretary since June 2012.
