Research for prevention and adaptation to climate change in the spotlight in Djibouti

The International Summit on "Climate Change and Research" opens this morning in Djibouti and will last three days. Discussions will focus on climate change in East Africa and on the solutions to prevent its impacts and develop adaptation and resilience strategies.

This part of the world is strongly affected by floods, tropical cyclones and drought, which is a crucial issue for the Horn of Africa. Faced with these increasingly urgent challenges, the Republic of Djibouti has developed an Observatory of Research on Environment and Climate (ORREC) for the collection and analysis of data and the production of relevant, updated and spatialized information.

The Sahara and Sahel Observatory extends its congratulations to the Republic of Djibouti for the implementation of this scientific tool that will help guide political decisions in terms of adaptation and resilience.
