An OSS delegation including Mr. Nabil HAMADA and Mrs. Kaouther HAMROUNI, is currently taking part in the 26th meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), being held in Nairobi, Kenya, from May 13 to 18, 2024. The main purpose of this meeting is to review scientific and technical issues related to biodiversity and its conservation and to identify the different gaps and challenges. SBSTTA-26 also aims to provide scientific guidance to inform policies and actions on biodiversity, emphasizing emerging aspects and new technologies.
The OSS delegation is contributing to the discussions and exchanges and is holding strategic meetings with key partners and figures, in particular with Mr. David Cooper, Acting Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) Secretariat and Ms. Senka Barudanovic, SBSTTA Chairperson.
SBSTTA-26 is also an opportunity to strengthen partnerships and promote OSS, recently pre-selected by the CBD as a Technical and Scientific Cooperation Support Centre (TSC) for Africa. Such a designation follows resolution CBD/COP/DEC/15/8, which fosters capacity building and cooperation for the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
