Preparatory Consultation Meeting for Africa's Position at the 10th World Water Forum, March 4 – 6, 2024, Nairobi, Kenya

The participation of the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS), represented by Ms. Apolline Bambara, in the Consultation Meeting of the Member States of the African Ministers' Council on Water (AMCOW) and Stakeholders, from March 4 to 6, 2024 in Nairobi, marked a significant milestone in the preparation of the African continent for the 10th World Water Forum in Bali, Indonesia, from May 18 to 25, 2024.

This meeting, organized by the African Ministers' Council on Water (AMCOW) in partnership with the African Union Commission, brought together representatives from major organizations such as the African Civil Society Network on Water (ANEW), African Renaissance (AR), the African Development Bank, the African Water Facility (AWF/AfDB), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), as well as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The main objective was to facilitate the exchange of experiences, define key messages, and establish a common position for Africa ahead of the 10th World Water Forum, while emphasizing the importance of gender and social inclusion in access to safe drinking water and sanitation in Africa.

This meeting represents a significant step forward in Africa's goals for water and sanitation, demonstrating the continued commitment of African countries and their partners, including the Sahara and Sahel Observatory, towards a more sustainable and equitable future.
