The OSS actively participates in the capacity-building workshop on grievance mechanisms in the context of climate finance, Casablanca, April 14-18, 2024

The Sahara and Sahel Observatory, represented by Ms. Essia Dziri, Head of the Legal Affairs Division, and Mr. Omar Ennaifar, Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) Focal Point, participated in a workshop organized by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) in Casablanca, Morocco. This five-day workshop, which started on Monday, April 14, 2024, aimed to enhance participants' capacity in grievance redress mechanisms and integrity within their activities.

With representatives from international organizations and civil society in attendance, the workshop provided an opportunity to exchange best practices and share experiences. It also offered insights into grievance mechanisms in the context of climate finance.

The workshop served as a platform to delve into the various stages of complaints handling, from receipt to closure, and explore the prerequisites for a well-functioning grievance mechanism and effective grievance handling. It also addressed the importance of integrity and measures to counter malpractice impacting climate action.

As a GCF-accredited entity, OSS recognizes the crucial importance of maintaining high integrity standards and transparency in its activities to better serve its mission of addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development.
