The Sahara and Sahel Observatory delegation, led by Mr. Mustapha Mimouni, GMES&Africa Project Technical Coordinator for North Africa, took part in the kick-off workshop for the second phase of the program, which was held in Benin from March 14 to 18, 2022.
Organized by the African Union, this workshop celebrated the signing of the program second phase agreement and brought together representatives of the eight consortia to promote exchanges between the different partners.
GMES&Africa is an ambitious program that targets the sustainable management of water and natural resources in Africa.
The second phase of this program aims to enhance the achievements of the first phase, namely the improvement of EO operational services in support of the sustainable management of natural resources and the socio-economic development of the North Africa region.
It is worth noting that in addition to the ecological, social and economic commitment, this program aims to give more importance to gender consideration, and strengthen the commitment of women, particularly in the field of scientific research.
