Preparatory mission for the Oasis-Chad project, February 21-23, 2024
The OSS, in its capacity as Implementing Entity, is conducting a three-day mission in Chad, from February 21 to 23, 2024, with the aim of preparing the start of the elaboration process of the Oasis-Chad project document, after approval of the concept note by the Adaptation Fund.
This mission aims at alerting the project stakeholders on the second phase challenges and issues and defining the needs and responsibilities of each actor and identifying the project intervention sites. The OSS delegation will pay courtesy visits to local authorities, in particular the Minister of the Environment, Fisheries and Sustainable Development as well as the Minister of the Economy, Planning and International Cooperation in order to explain the objectives and results expected from the mission.
A roadmap will be developed and a local technical team will be established to monitor and foster the entire process. In addition to the technical and financial support expected from the Global Center for Adaptation, the mission will seek to mobilize new sources of support necessary for the finalization of all activities to be undertaken before the project document is submitted to the Adaptation Fund.
In addition to the courtesy visits, working and consultation meetings will take place with the project stakeholders as a workshop. The Adaptation Fund National Designated Authority in Chad, the General Directorate of Forests, Wildlife and Fisheries Resources of the Ministry of the Environment, Fisheries and Sustainable Development, and the Union of Women for the Fight Against Desertification (UWFAD) in the Sahel, are the key players who will support and facilitate this mission on site.
