Support for countries to improve their reporting systems to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification - UNCCD
This initiative is part of the continued effort to support UNCCD Parties in reaching and sustaining their global environmental objectives. By building on a structured reporting system, it provides a critical framework to measure progress, identify remaining gaps, and guide strategic decision-making grounded in reliable and regularly updated data.
At the same time, the program reinforces international commitments to the preservation of terrestrial ecosystems. A central focus is placed on building the capacities in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), an essential step for accurately assessing indicators and harnessing geospatial data to inform environmental planning and sustainable resource management.
