Preparing Tunisia for Climate Finance and establishing the National Designated Authority - Readiness program of the Green Climate Fund (GCF)
Readiness Tunisia “Preparing Tunisia for Climate Finance and Establishing the National Designated Authority – Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Program” – is part of a broader effort to structure and strengthen the national climate finance system.
The first phase focuses on establishing the National Designated Authority (NDA) and consolidating its institutional capacities, enabling it to fully play its role and responsibilities vis-à-vis the GCF. It also paves the way for the development of a national program to address the adverse effects of climate change, designed through a participatory process that incorporates both national priorities for adaptation and mitigation, as well as the GCF specific requirements.
Building on these foundations, the second phase places emphasis on enhancing the NDA capacities and key national stakeholders – including institutions, ministries and agencies – in procedures and in the development of GCF investment projects and programs. The overarching goal is to establish a robust operational framework that can effectively mobilize international resources in support of Tunisia’s climate resilience and sustainable development.
