Start of the 3rd International Conference on Advanced Geospatial Sciences and Technologies - TEANGEO 2022, October 18-20, 2022 Tunis, Tunisia

The 3rd International Conference on Advanced Geospatial Sciences and Technologies TEANGEO 2022, organized from October 18 to 20, 2022 in Tunis, by the Regional Center for Remote Sensing of North African States (CRTEAN), in partnership with the OSS and the African Union, has just started with the presence of H.E.Mr. Moncef Boukthir, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Tunisia, partners and representatives of African and international institutions and organizations.

While inaugurating the exhibition held back-to-back with the Conference, the Tunisian Minister was given a clearer picture on the OSS and the projects it implements and executes for the benefit of its member countries and all the region, with the aim of developing geo-spatial industries and speaking up for the creation of synergies between the professional and academic sectors on the one hand and natural resource managers on the other hand.

In addition, the opening session of the Conference was marked by speeches of representatives of African and international organizations who put special focus on the need to promote Earth Observation techniques and to foster partnerships between the various stakeholders.

For the record, Earth Observation is an important tool for monitoring and managing natural resources. Before, satellite images, their availability and access were a major impediment to the space technology use and integration in the process of producing useful information and data for decision-making. Today, the real challenge is to manage the flow of information and satellite data. Thus, we all need to make every effort to take advantage of them and make information resources available to users - decision-makers, technicians, natural resource managers, the private sector - to achieve the best possible outcomes.
