Support for the Protection and Rehabilitation of Degraded Soils in the North-West and Central-West of Tunisia
The aim of this project is to carry out actions in seven governorates in the north-western and central-western regions of Tunisia, with a view to assessing the impact of sustainable land management (SLM) on soil resilience, while mobilising and building the skills of national and local stakeholders in terms of good practice in adaptation and financing the fight against climate change.
- Coopération allemande, GIZ
- Development of a geo-hydrological model to assess the impact of SLM and water and soil conservation practices on the sustainability of local ecosystems and hydrological systems, integrating regional climate variability
- Climate profiles for the governorates of Béja, Jendouba, Kairouan, Siliana, Kef, Kasserine and Sidi Bouzid
- A capacity-building strategy aimed at disseminating soil protection and rehabilitation practices on a national scale
- Training plan, adapted to the needs expressed and to the strategic documents made available to the DGACTA
- Revision of the modelling of water erosion on the project sites and support for the process of setting up the Observatory of Natural Resources for the Sustainable Development of Rural Areas (ORNDDTR)
