During his mission to Monrovia, the Executive Secretary of the OSS had the honor of meeting His Excellency Jeremiah Koung, Vice President of the Republic of Liberia. He presented the OSS, the ongoing RICOWAS initiative in Liberia, as well as the outcomes of the meetings held with key ministries and institutions during this first visit of the OSS to Liberia.
The Executive Secretary informed the Vice President about the identified collaboration opportunities for funding new initiatives aimed at strengthening the resilience of populations and ecosystems, and supporting the implementation of national strategies and priorities. These projects will be submitted to the major climate donors in the coming months, including the Adaptation Fund and the Green Climate Fund.
To commemorate this meeting, he presented to the Vice President a sample of publications produced by the OSS Secretariat, symbolizing the organization’s ongoing commitment and efforts towards sustainable development in Africa.
The OSS mission also participated in the launch ceremony of the National Program for the Creation of a Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone. This program, financed by the World Bank, aims to promote economic development and food security in Liberia.
The OSS will continue to work closely with its partners for a sustainable future for the African communities, emphasizing sustainable natural resource management and resilience to climate challenges.
