Indeed, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Water Resources of Burkina Faso, the Sahara and Sahel Observatory is organizing a five-day training workshop in hydrogeological modeling of the Iullemeden-Taoudéni/Tanezrouft Aquifer System (ITTAS) from Monday January 8, 2024 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
Mrs. Colette TIENDREBEOGO/NAKELSE, National Director of Regulatory Compliance and Basin Organizations and representative of the Director General of Water Resources of Burkina Faso kickstarted the workshop with the presence of Mr. Walter Bamidele OLATUNJI, representative of the NB-ITTAS project Coordinator and Mr. Mohamedou SY, OSS Water Department Director.
Mr. Mohamedou SY will be leading the training workshop that aims at reaching a good command and the transfer of the hydrogeological model developed within the framework of the NB-ITTAS project to Directors, national focal points of the project, as well as representatives of the Water Ministries and Universities of the Niger Basin Authority (NBA).
It is worth mentioning that an adequate implementation of this decision-making tool by national officials will promote more efficient and sustainable management of the groundwater resources that are particularly impacted by climate change and its effects.
