The Sahara and Sahel Observatory will be present at this event to support the efforts of the international community to achieve sustainable and climate resilient development. It will take part in strategic debates aimed at ensuring food security and helping countries overcome climate challenges. It will also put to contribution its experience to open up prospects for the adoption of nature-based solutions.
The OSS participation in COP27 will be marked by the celebration of 30 years serving Africa, which coincides with the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. A variety of works, products and achievements will be presented on the occasion of this celebration and will reaffirm the organization's commitment to the Africa we want. The event will take place on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 from 5 :30 p.m. to 7 :30 p.m. at the Francophonie pavilion and will bring together the OSS member countries as well as its technical and financial partners.
Three side events will be organized by the OSS :
Besides, the OSS delegation will take part in several side events and will be present to discuss with all stakeholders and share experiences, strategies and lessons learned, propose solutions to meet the climate change challenges with a view to achieving economic resilience and preserving food security.
COP27 participants will have the opportunity to come and visit the OSS stand. Indeed, they will discuss the organization's areas of intervention, its actions for the benefit of its member countries and the African continent as well as its books and publications.
