Indeed, Mr. Nabil Ben Khatra, Executive Secretary of the Sahara and Sahel Observatory, took part in the GCF high-level panel on "Climate strategy to investment plan". The event was inaugurated by the Egyptian Prime Minister with the presence of members of the Egyptian government and heads of delegations.
It is worth recalling that as part of its accreditation with the Green Climate Fund - GCF, the OSS has just signed a 10M USD Funded Activity Agreement, allowing it to start its first Climate Change adaptation project. This will also be the first project implemented for the benefit of Guinea Bissau over a five-year period.
The members of the OSS delegation took part, as panelists, in several side-events organized by our partners.
Mrs. Khaoula Jaoui, OSS Climate Department Coordinator, who participated in the ECOWAS side-event, stated that "Promoting the sharing of experiences and building technical capacities are key factor to ensuring better management of the project implementation related risks.
She called upon the climate funds implementation regional entities to create strong networks and guarantee climate resilience for all.
During the event on "Access to climate finance for adaptation - new medium-term strategy of the Adaptation Fund 2023-2027", which took place at the IFDD francophonie Pavilion, Mr Aziz Belhamra, Project Management Officer at the OSS, emphasized that the best interest of the populations was the number one target of the OSS. He also explained the choice of climate change adaptation regional strategies that break down all geographical borders. He took this occasion to call the Adaptation Fund to increase the funding threshold granted to the regional initiatives, just like national initiatives.
