The workshop officially started with the speech of Mr. Nabil Ben Khatra, OSS Executive Secretary with the presence of Dr. Elhadi Gashut, Director of CRTEAN and Pr. Anas Emran, Director of CRASTE-LF. It was an opportunity for the different partners of the OSS - North Africa Consortium to meet.
The Global Monitoring Support Program for Environment and Security & Africa (GMES&Africa) is a pan-African program that comes as a result of a common strategy and cooperation between Africa and Europe in space science and technology and complies with the global requirements for sustainable development.
It aims to promote the sustainable management of natural resources and build the capacity of decision-makers, scientists and private stakeholders to implement EO-based services.
The GMES&Africa first phase achievements paved the way for strong synergies between the various consortia and led to this second phase that will complement and consolidate its accomplishments. Having the role of young people and women enhanced and reinforced is also one of the primary purposes of the project.
The OSS-organized workshop helped promote the exchanges, share ideas and views between the different partners and shed more light on the different activities to be undertaken by the OSS-North Africa consortium.
