Strengthening Scientific and Technical Collaboration between Africa and China

Mr. Nabil BEN KHATRA, Executive Secretary of the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS), received a delegation from the Aerospace Information Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (AIR-CAS), whici is paying Tunisia a working visit as part of the training workshop on monitoring and optimizing water use in North Africa.

This delegation composed of Drs. Li Jia, Massimo Menenti, Chaolei Zheng, and Min Jiang had discussions focused primarily on strengthening knowledge transfer, particularly in the areas of spatio-temporal monitoring of natural resources, as well as the use of high-resolution EO products, particularly those related to evapotranspiration, to support informed decision-making in water resource management for agriculture and the environment.

This meeting made it possible to outline new perspectives for close cooperation between the two institutions, covering various fields of common interest such as scientific research, sharing of expertise and strengthening of technical and institutional capacities.
