Regional Workshop Earth Observation for decision support in water and natural resources management in North Africa. October 19-21 2022, Tunis-Tunisia
As part of the GMES&Africa project, the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS) is organizing a regional workshop on "Exploiting Earth Observation to support decision-making in water and natural resources management in North Africa”, on October 19-21, 2022 in Tunis.
The workshop will bring together the North African stakeholders involved in the project. Decision-makers, researchers, experts and representatives of the private sector are also expected to be part of the event.
This meeting will make it possible to discuss strategic and institutional issues relating to Earth Observation integration in the sustainable management of water and natural resources and for the various stakeholders to share their feedback and teachings.
For the record, the main objective of the GMES&Africa project is to drive and support changes in North African environmental public policies.
The project provides space-technology based operational products and services for land degradation monitoring, agricultural and agricultural water use monitoring, as well as drought early warning, thus making it possible to provide reliable data from Earth Observation with a view to improving natural resources management.
The regional workshop will be held along with the 3rd International Conference on Advanced Geospatial Science and Technology TEANGEO2022, organized by the Regional Center for Remote Sensing of North African States (CRTEAN), in partnership with the OSS and the African Union.
The conference will put special focus on the development of geospatial science and technology in North African countries, with an emphasis on these technologies contribution to the socio-economic development of the region.
Partner institutions will participate in the scientific presentations and the exhibition that will be held with the Conference. This event will be an opportunity to call upon the countries to develop their geospatial industries and speak up for the creation of synergies between the professional and academic sectors.
