The ITTAS project organizes a follow-up meeting for the demonstration pilot of Dhar de Nema at the National Water Resources Center (CNRE), Nouakchott, April 22, 2024

In the framework of the "Improving IWRM, knowledge-based Management and Governance of the Niger Basin and the Iullemeden-Taoudéni / Tanezrouft Aquifer System | ITTAS" project, a follow-up meeting for the demonstration pilot site of Dhar de Nema was held today at the newly inaugurated headquarters of the National Water Resources Center (CNRE), marking the first meeting since its opening last month.

The main objective of this meeting was to assess the progress of activities and define the roadmap for several key stages, including the organization of the pilot launch workshop, raising awareness among local stakeholders, and implementing on-site activities such as the construction of dikes and groundwater recharge.

The outcomes of this pilot will have both national and regional implications, significantly impacting water resources management.

The meeting brought together representatives from the OSS, including the Executive Secretary Mr. Nabil Ben Khatra, the Director of the Water Department Mr. Mohammedou Sy,

the administrative and financial affairs manager Mr. Nabil Hamada, and the head of the administrative and human resources division Ms. Sonia Njah. On the CNRE side, attendees included Director Mohamed Lemine Ould Khattry, Deputy Director Ms. Sarra Souleymane, Director's Advisor Mr. Naji Mami, technical advisor Mr. Bacar Teiss, and the Minister of Environment's advisor for rural hydraulics.
