The W-Niger component of the WAP complex proceeds with its stakeholder capacity building activities for adaptation to climate change

The national project management unit in Niger conducted in Bangoula, March 21-22, 2022, a series of training sessions on various topics, namely Climate Change, Sustainable Land Management and Disaster Management, for technicians and teachers of the three neighbouring towns of the W-Niger National Park.

In this context, the participants had the opportunity to work based on specific training modules, within the framework of the Adaptation-Fund financed AdaptWAP project. Thus, 25 training technicians and 30 teachers benefited from this training. In the future, they will have to train producers and schoolchildren in the relevant towns.

Stakeholder capacity building is a highly important component in the implementation of the project-related adaptation measures. The various training programs scheduled in the three project countries (Benin, Burkina Faso and Niger), shall guarantee the sustainability of the scheduled activities, contribute to maintaining the balance of ecosystems and improving the adaptation capacities of the communities neighbouring the park.
