OSS participation in the 2021 session of the Regional Steering Committee for Projects and Programs of the Niger Basin Authority in Cameroon | September 13-15, 2021

The Sahara and Sahel Observatory, represented by Mr Abdelkader DODO, Coordinator of the Water Department and Head of Component 1 of the NB-ITTAS project, took part in the 2021 session of the Regional Steering Committee for projects and programs of the Niger Basin Authority that took place on September 13-15, 2021 in Yaoundé, United Republic of Cameroon.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Mr. TCHOFFO Jean, Secretary General of the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Land Development of Cameroon representing the Minister. It was marked by the word of welcome from the Coordinator of the National Focal Structure (NFS) of Cameroon, the speech of the representative of the German Cooperation in Cameroon, the speech of the NBA Executive Secretary and the opening speech of the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Land Development, delivered by Mr. TCHOFFO Jean.
More than 65 representatives of the NBA and the OSS member countries and Technical and Financial Partners, took part in this session that made it possible for the participants to better understand the issues and challenges related to groundwater and surface water conjunctive management.
The participants took the session to make recommendations as to improve knowledge of groundwater and surface water resources through the development of synergies between NB-ITTAS and the NBA projects and programs, in particular AGES, PFN-PACS-RE of KfW.
It is worth reminding that the NB-ITTAS project brings together 11 countries (Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria and Chad).
